LYRICS: gather round everyone, sit by the ring let me tell you a tale, listen to me sing some will tell lies but, don't listen to them i'll tell you the truth of the one they call The Masked Femme Femme she grew up in terraces and alleys in the rolling hills of the North-East Tees Valley she lived there with her mother and father who tried their best but as she grew up Femme knew, she just had to much test- -osterone take me home to the place i belong... and now we've seen how it ends so lets see how it starts Femme's wrestling journey, and how it all fell apart

LYRICS: wrestling is a poetry, a wordless romance between two perfect partners in a brawl and a dance limbs will brush paint onto canvas bodies are foundations for marvellous madness a silent movie of drama or comedy, too but sometimes you can’t beat a well placed; (fuck you) sometimes the things you’re trying to say are deeply moving, emotional and personal vendettas against your opponent sometimes it’s a socio-political message of the power of the underdog vs The Man or the powers that be sometimes it’s just two people slapping each other silly all of these are valid but whichever it is you need the perfect dance partner like a beautiful physical theatre piece, seeing two people connect in their art is beautiful, and being in it is even more wondrous. that was Femme and Butch they met during training, under the wise tutelage of Sunderland professional wrestling legend “Hairy” Harry Baker Butch and Femme fought a few times opponents in school halls, community centres matches for one fall (one fall) but Harry saw money, and the best friends did too, in teaming together they scheduled a debut and that’s how the team of the Fatal Futches began they quickly whipped up adoring fans

about

so this was written for The Masked Femme by Rickety Fidgets, a show about the career of a trans wrestler. and also about how transphobia permeates through all aspects of life in this country.
it was on my, like, music bucket list, for want of a better phrase, to write a theme for a pro-wrestler, and now i've written many! did a lot of things with this that i've always wanted to do musically and i'm thrilled with how it all came out tbh.
each main character has their own "theme" which is pretty much just a chord progression, so anything where characters mix, their progressions mix too. overall that meant this was an exercise in genre and style, cos the actual "music" was already written, it was always gonna be these chords. it was a really fun and interesting way to work!
i got to work with some absolutely delightful people for this show, cannot be more thankful to Rickety Fidgets for being so bloody good and nice and thoughtful and accommodating and cool! just and incredibly relaxed and positive atmosphere throughout pretty much the whole production process, which was just brilliant to be around.
go find Rickety Fidgets on social media and support them cos they have and are going to make some fantastic work:
